13 Reasons Why book review
After coming to know about the Netflix series and all its hype,I finally decided to buy this book and give it a try. This book went to the top of my tbr (to-be-read) pile mostly because of the hype its Netflix counterpart was getting. So,anyways, let's get into the main review....
The plot: This is a young adult contemporary novel which contains dark themes such as suicide. In this novel the main character receives a box of tapes. The tapes contain reasons why a girl from his school,Hannah Baker, decided to end her life. These reasons are actually 13 people because of whom she attempts suicide, the main character,Clay being one of them. The plot progresses as Clay tries to figure out how he is involved with all this.I am not going to tell anything more about the plot as I might spoil part of the novel.
My thoughts: I really liked the way in which the plot unravels. I usually take up more than a week to finish an average 250 page novel,so I was surprised to fly through this book in just 5-6 days.In my opinion this book was worth buying because of its plot and unique format but you could just borrow it and read it if you want.Even though this is a well written novel, I would highly recommend it only to someone who is over 16 years old.Overall this was a quick read and it really made me think about a few things differently.
Genre: YA contemporary
Rating:3.5 out of 5 stars
